We have just until MIDNIGHT TONIGHT to change FIVE free subscribers to paid and we will reach our goals and unlock $12,000. READ: The 101 Top Articles of 2025.
December 31, 2025
We have just 12 HOURS left to reach our $6,000 goal and unlock our generous donors' $12,000 match pledges for a total $18,000. If just FIVE of our many, many unpaid subscribers - and you all are avid readers! - choose to subscribe right now at $36.00 year ($3/month), each subscription will be worth $108 during our 3x match, and ONLY THEN we will meet our goal, unlock our matches for a total $18,000, reach our 2025 annual budget, and sail into 2026.
WE HAVE ONE ARTICLE IN THIS BRIEF TO READ: THE TOP 101 ARTICLES MOST READ in the NMJJ this YEAR: TOP 101 MOST READ ARTICLES in 2025! Let us know your favorites.

The New Mexico Jewish Journal was launched with $100 in March of 2024 by a small group of writers, editors, Jewish professionals and spiritual leaders, after the 55-year-0ld NM Jewish Link folded in 2022. Since then we have published more than 150 stories by 78 of our community's very gifted writers and artists, and have earned an unheard-of 35 awards for our first year from national and regional journalism organizations. With 60,000 website views to date, 2,600 unique readers now visit the website monthly.
And our now 752 (and growing daily) dedicated subscribers, both paid and unpaid, have an outstanding 76% open rate (what does ‘open rate’ mean? That means, when you get your newsletter in your email, you open and read it! — the national average for similar publications is between 20% and 40%).
In the month of December, until the 31st, we are asking every free subscriber to begin a subscription of $36 per year or more so that we can meet our 2025 operating costs and go forward into 2026. A paid subscription gives you additional benefits: paid subscribers can contribute to our Avid Readers and Letters column, and to a new dedicated section we are planning for obituary notices and yarzheits.
Specifically, your paid subscription will help us renew our costly media liability and professional liability insurance, pay for our website, design updates, submit our articles to professional journalism organizations, and additional operating expenses, including, to staff an associate editor position, to pay our dedicated writers reporting on antisemitism, government, immigration, elder, health, law and climate issues, art and creative stories, Jewish history and culture, and to offer more community resources. Oh, and also pay the editor a minimum wage for the last few months.
We want to continue to provide our community with this valuable resource and we hope you do too! Click here to access all our payment options, subscriptions, contributions and detailed information about tax-deductible donations.
