Featuring Inspirational Music and Meaningful Teachings.

We celebrate Hazzan Cindy Freedman's 23d year leading High Holiday services with HaMakom!

We also welcome guest Rabbi Deborah Brin.

Rabbi Brin moved to Albuquerque in 1992. In 2005, she became the rabbi of congregation Nahalat Shalom and served for ten years. She is now Rabbi Emerita. She was among the first 100 women to be ordained as a rabbi in the United States. Rabbi Brin led the first women’s prayer service with a Torah reading at the Wall in Jerusalem, in 1988. She started the Chevra Kaddisha in Albuquerque and was the founding president of the Rabbinic and Cantorial Association of Albuquerque.

Originally from Minneapolis, MN, Rabbi Brin was ordained by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Pennsylvania in 1985, and that same year received a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from LaSalle University. She has been honored to study with wonderful teachers and colleagues, among them Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, z’l, Rabbi Rebecca Alpert, Rabbi Sheila Weinberg, Rabbi Shefa Gold, Sylvia Boorstein, Dr. Judith Plaskow.

(Rabbi Jack Shlachter will be leading High Holiday services in New Zealand. He will be back with us for Sukkot and Simchat Torah)

After celebrating our 25th anniversary this past year,

we are looking forward to the next 25 years!

We know you appreciate how blessed we are to have Rabbi Jack Shlachter and Hazzan Cindy Freedman engage us in worship, song and learning every Shabbat morning. We meet joyously for monthly Kabbalat Shabbat services as well as holidays like Hanukkah, Passover and Purim. Our weekly Jewish Mindfulness meditation group continues to bring comfort to all who attend. And of course, we continue to offer other popular long-time programs like adult education and book club.

HaMakom’s greatest asset is the members who care enough to invest their time and money in our community’s future.

Please take a moment now to demonstrate your commitment to HaMakom, and the Jewish people, by renewing your membership or joining for the first time.
