As has been the custom for many years, Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, was commemorated at the state capital in Santa Fe this year. The event was attended by Santa Fe Mayor Michael Garcia and by Democratic and Republican representatives: Majority Floor Leader Rep. Reena Szczepanski (D-47) and Republican House Minority Whip Rep. Alan T. Martinez (R-Rio Rancho). Honors College Dean Naomi Yavneh Klos, Ph.D., University of New Mexico, delivered a speech, "Anne Frank was Jewish: Why Identity Matters in Holocaust Education." JCRC-NM Co-Chair Erika Rimson and Director Juan Dirce gave remarks.
