We had no idea that taking on the idea of publishing the NM Jewish Journal would unleash such enormous energy that in nine short months this baby has already published 80 articles, over 550 members have signed up, 37% are paying and an astonishing 78% are regularly opening and reading, and 3.5k unique visitors have dropped in to view the site.
Also in this short time we've gotten a fiscal sponsor, New Mexico Foundation; a pro bono law firm Lawyers for Reporters; participation in the local news ecosystem with New Mexico Local News Fund/Press Forward NM, membership in the prestigious LION Publishing (Local Independent Online News), American Jewish Press Association, Society of Professional Journalists, and NM Press Women; and we've just been approved for media liability insurance coverage that will also insure our freelance writers.
Donors will be acknowledged here on the website or you may ask to remain anonymous. All donations made during December 2024 will be matched 2x by the NM Local News Fund/Press Forward NM, up to $500 per donation.
